With substantial interests in property, the Christchurch City Council delivers services to the community through a diverse range of property assets. The portfolio comprises assets across all sectors e.g. commercial, retail, residential, community centres, recreation and leisure facilities, heritage buildings, infrastructure, parks and reserves.

As a Property Consultant, you will be part of the Property Consultancy Team providing a professional, diverse and cost-effective property consultancy shared service across the council to ensure projects and programmes are achieved and delivered within scope, time and budget constraints.

Local Government property management and consultancy is unique within the industry, covering a wide variety of specialist tasks only found within that environment. These tasks include purchasing; all property negotiations; determining the future use and/or disposal of surplus property assets; ensuring legal processes and property conveyance is undertaken within statutory obligations and regulations and establishing, analysing, developing, recommending and implementing property related options, strategies, initiatives and solutions, supporting the councils property management processes and functions.

These activities involve a very large and diverse portfolio comprising assets such as: commercial properties, roads, reserves, housing, infrastructural assets, community and sporting facilities (e.g. libraries, club rooms, community halls, pools and stadia, etc.), easements, covenants and a wide variety of leases and licences.

This position offers the opportunity to be part of a team operating with a wide variety of property work, diverse stakeholder groups including the public, elected members and multiple professional disciplines both internal and external to the council.
