About Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, brings together the three existing agencies of Housing New Zealand, HLC and KiwiBuild to form a new organisation.

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities is central to the Government's aspirations for housing and urban development. It will work across the housing spectrum to build thriving communities where everyone has a place to call home. 

This new organisation will have two key roles - being a public housing landlord, and partnering with the development community, iwi, local and central government to deliver urban development projects of all sizes.

The anticipated start date for this new organisation is 1 October 2019.

The National Asset Management team

Our team ensures Housing's national $21 billion asset portfolio is effectively managed to meet strategic targets. The team is responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of the portfolio, managing the upgrade, configuration and divestment of assets, minimising vacancies and maximising portfolio utilisation.

The role

Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this we are currently recruiting for an Asset Manager who will help support future demand requirements in our Complexes portfolio to ensure that our assets meet agreed targets and standards, in order to protect and improve the overall quality of our assets. The Ideal skill set we are looking for is an Assets or Facilities Manager however we would consider candidates that have skill set in either valuation, Building, compliance or project management.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • an understanding of property and building
  • excellent report writing skills
  • the ability to assist with Body Corporate meetings
  • proactive work ethic and able to work with minimal supervision
  • influencing and communication skills
  • a passion for social housing
