Job Description

Wakatu Incorporation is a family owned business with approximately 4,000 shareholders who descend from the Maori land owners of the Nelson, Tasman, and Golden Bay regions - known as Te Tau Ihu (Top of the South). Whenua is the foundation of our business with over 70% of our assets held in land - from vineyards, orchards and water space to residential, commercial and retail property.

Wakatu has an active development pipeline including subdivisions, commercial buildings, water space and horticultural ventures across the region. The newly created Development Project Manager role will report to our Group GM - Property & Commercial and be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of projects. You will source new business and build relationships with development partners. Assisting the Group GM - Commercial and Property you will help prepare and deliver annual business plans, budgets and be involved in our strategic property planning.

We are on the lookout for someone who:

  • Has the technical ability to lead feasibility, acquisition and delivery of commercial developments
  • Is known for their excellent communication skills
  • Can take commercial ideas and opportunities, shape them into projects, generate buy in and deliver outcomes
  • Understands the New Zealand commercial property market and can find ways to capture value
