Job Description


The Eastern Busway is a significant project for Auckland and forms a key part of the region’s rapid transport network. Similar to the Northern Busway, it will create separate lanes for new high-frequency bus services to connect people from Botany, Pakuranga and the surrounding suburbs with the rail network in Panmure. The project includes cycling and walking paths, safety, environment and roading improvements, and a Reeves Road flyover, giving people a range of travel options and more reliable journey times.

The busway will increase access to jobs and education, lead to more social and community opportunities, attract investment and growth, enable urban development, and help reduce emissions. It is much more than a transport project.

We have an opportunity available to lead the Acquisitions team who are responsible for delivering the acquisitions programme for the Eastern Busway Alliance.

About the role

As a Team Leader Acquisitions, you will provide high level strategic property advice and guidance to support the achievement of the Eastern Busway outcomes and the broader property acquisition programme.

You will provide leadership to your team and will work closely with other units and divisions within Auckland Transport, Auckland Council and Eke Panuku to ensure property acquisition programmes are developed and implemented in accordance with statutory provisions.

We need property professionals who are proactive and can contribute to the diverse thinking of the team. Ideally, you will have experience in delivering acquisition programmes for infrastructure work underpinned by a relevant qualification in property, law, valuation or business.


You will ideally have solid experience gained within the private or public sector, be highly organised and thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Other key requirements include:

  • A tertiary qualification in Property, Law, Valuation or Business, a post graduate qualification is desired
  • A strong results orientation and experience within the property industry as a subject matter expert
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of valuation methodologies and processes is highly desirable
  • Experience and applied knowledge of the Public Works Act, Local Government Act and Resource Management Act
