We are seeking a Property Assets Advisor to manage around 600 use agreements such as leases and licences, provide facility management services and respond to a wide variety of internal and external inquiries about Council-owned property. In addition, the role contributes to a range of other property negotiations and provides support for the diverse functions administered by the Property and other Units of Council.
Knowledge of legal documentation such as general contracts, land titles, licenses, leases, easements and other property agreements will be important ideally with an understanding of property-related databases and financial systems required for large organisations.
Of equal importance will be your great people and communication skills. Our ideal candidate will be confident dealing with the public, contractors and technical staff, both within and external to Council.

The Property Engagement Officer will assist in delivering the councils Long Term Plan objectives by undertaking landowner engagement, negotiations and property acquisitions primarily for the Awanui Flood Scheme update project.
This newly created position is a 12-month fixed term contract which will ensure that proper specification and selection is in place for all property acquisitions. This role will be the key liaison contact with council's engineers, surveyors, valuers and lawyers for property acquisition and to develop easement instruments for a range of council activities as required. You will have access to support/guidance from our project consultant and the wider property team.
The position is based in the sub-tropical city of Whangarei, about two hours' drive north of Auckland.
What you will bring
You will have experience in property sales/management, property valuation, legal or a related discipline and have good understanding of property valuation and the Public Works Act.
You will ideally have 3 years' experience in a similar role, project management skills and well developed engagement and negotiation skills. Your ability to build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders is key to achieving the objectives of the project, as well as good judgement and problem solving skills.

The Whanganui district boasts a wealth of heritage assets that is the envy of many. The town centre alone features over 120 heritage buildings and monuments. Our historic environment is highly valued by the local community and plays a key role in the district's tourism sector.
Economic regeneration and seismic challenges are pressing issues for local heritage management. Our aim is to accommodate new growth, continue to invigorate our town centre and find workable solutions to seismic challenges, all while retaining and celebrating our valued heritage assets.
To do this we need a qualified and motivated Heritage Advisor. You will develop a district-wide heritage strategy, a first for Council. You will work with stakeholders including building owners and Heritage EQUIP to facilitate seismic solutions. You will work alongside our Town Centre Project Manager and regulatory planning team helping facilitate the re-use of heritage buildings. You will ensure our heritage policies and inventory are up-to-date, reviewing and producing character appraisals.
